On the way home this car hears my confessions

Went and did the Grouse Grind for the first time yesterday. It was quite a challenge...though I can't wait to do again soon.

I thought about how cool it would be to build a zipline at the quarter and halfway marks of the trail. It would definitely be a sweet ride down to the base. It would also be a good alternative to get back down for people who may be too tired to continue the trek.

Once we completed the Grind, we walked around the top of the mountain and saw this grizzly bear that was just chilling out on the grass. It looked like it was taking in the nice summer weather with its legs outstretched.

Had a first listen to a friend's new album. He just finished recording it recently. It still needs to be mixed and mastered, but is sounding good so far along the process.

Dashboard Confessional played the Plaza Of Nations last night.

John Ralston played a solid opening set. I really liked the strings being incorporated into his songs. Gone Gone Gone sounded excellent.

Dashboard Confessional came on and opened with Heaven Here. It was the first time for Chris Carrabba and company playing Vancouver and they put on a great showing. Chris had some good stage presence, running from side to side at times and getting the crowd involved in the songs. There were a lot of sing-alongs throughout the show.

There was pretty much no stage lighting needed for the first half of their set as the natural light seeping through the venue was still quite bright. The stage lights didn't kick back on until later when they played Don't Wait.

Chris Carrabba has such strong vocals, and they were really felt on numbers such as Dusk And Summer, Remember To Breathe, and So Long So Long. John Ralston and Susan Sherouse came back out to play the set with Dashboard and they lended to some great harmonies along the way.

The new songs were also well received. Some other highlights for me included The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most, Ghost Of A Good Thing, and For You To Notice.

For the encore, Dashboard came back out and played Vindicated, followed by Hands Down to end their 1hr 40 min set. During Hands Down, a drunk friend yelled out "Nachooooooo!" (from Nacho Libre) really loud that got everyone cracking up. It was so perfectly timed. Anyways, a solid day of good times were had.
