Footos...the fresh mint

Went to see the Foo Fighters play an acoustic show last night at the Orpheum.

Tim Curran opened. He had a few okay riffs and numbers.

Dave Grohl kicked off the Foo Fighters set by himself playing a sweet performance of Razor. His fellow bandmates joined him onstage near the end of the first song. There were eight of them onstage this night, comprising of the four Foo members, along with Pat Smear on guitars, Petra Haden on vocals and violins, and also a percussionist and a keyboardist.

The sound mix in the Orpheum was excellent, the atmosphere electric. Dave was having a great time with the crowd, telling stories and making jokes. He hassled a few people that were entering late for the show, and also those that left their seats to go to the washroom during the performance.

Before playing Next Year, Dave mentioned that they never play this song live since it was used as the theme song of the TV show ED. He also talked about his horrible living conditions when he first started playing with Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic, and that Friend Of A Friend is written about his two former Nirvana bandmates.

Petra did a great job on vocals during Floaty and Virginia Moon. February Stars was amazing, especially with the lighting during the song.

Dave did the majority of the encore by himself, including a passionate showing of Best Of You. A definite highlight of the show. His vocals were so powerful. He ended the 1hr 50min set playing Everlong, with his bandmates joining in to rock out the finish of a spectacular show and a very special night of music.

I'm excited times 10 about the upcoming Sufjan Stevens show in October. I saw him play a brief set this year at the Sasquatch Music Festival and can't wait to witness a full out performance from him. Also found out that a friend of a friend is gonna be touring with Sufjan for his upcoming Fall tour. He's gonna be playing trombone in Mr. Stevens' traveling orchestra. Neat stuff.

Scored this sweet little lamb today.

It's already starting to bust out some tunes on the guitar. I heard her running some scales and playing Eruption earlier.....craziness!!!
